I’ve run too many children’s programs to count, and each time I try to pick a fun combination of stories to read with the children. For every program I run, I look for stories that are: relevant to the activity at hand, fun for the kids, and fun for me to read. This list is an ongoing compilation of books I have used for future reference as well as for others to draw inspiration from when pairing children’s stories and fun activities.

Sticks and Stones theme
Wonderful short story about two best friends looking out for each other.
Who hasn’t made an empire in the dirt?
Jon Muth is a wonderful watercolour artist, and his version of this old tale doesn’t disappoint.
